Open Water Certification Class at the Walhalla City Pool

Course Objectives-

To provide students with the entry-level knowledge, skills, equpment and experience to scuba dive.

Learning Objectives-

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to engage in entry-level scuba diving actiities in local aquatic environments, without direct or indirect supervision by a certified scuba instructor.

Course Topics-

Scuba diving equipment, physics of diving, medical problems related to diving, use of dive tables and/or dive computers, the diving environment, dive planning, communications, diver assistance, recommended diving practices, procedures for diving from boats and use of a diving log book. Scuba skills development occurs in pool/confined water, with scuba skills performance in open water.

Grading Policies and Procedures-

Grades will be based on class participation, final exam, and open water skills. Upon successful completion of the course each student will receive an open water diver card from Upstate Scuba and SSI (Scuba Schools International).

Materials Needed-

• Open Water On-Line Kit (Included in registration)
• Personal Equpment: Mask, Snorkel, Fins, Boots

Discover Scuba Program

Program Description-

Discover Scuba is a one day, 2 hour program that introduces youth to the basics of scuba diving. This program includes a safety briefing and introduction to the scuba equipment along with 1 hour of diving time in the pool.

Refresher Course

Program Description-

This is a one day program for previously certified scuba divers. If your diving skills are rusty or even if you need to log some dives, this is the right program for you!
